Author Judith Vonberg creates strong emotions in her article. The most prevalent emotion being outrage. This strong emotion is caused by Belgiums choice in supporting Suadi Arabia. The outrage also causes the diction to be very powerful. This can be seen when including the statement about Saudi Arabias stance on women's roles. Using words such as, 'prevented' and 'strict' along with many other negative words, fules the diction.
A rhetorical device that is used in this article is sententia. This can be seen when the author quotes the Belgian Prime Minister. It sums up the aurguement and also begins to justify the authors emotion and diction. The authors tone is a continuation of the diction. It conveys the powerful diction with a an equally powerful tone. The author wrote this to spread word of Belgiums mistake of supporting Suadi Arabia. The addition of a direct quote from the Prime Minister speaks directly to this. While the purpose is evidently biased it still conveys a collective opinion about Belgium. Ther author begins the article with some background about the event as well as information about the two countries involved. Then it continues with the opinion and possible solution within Suadi Arabia. The article is consistantly strong except for one part. This part is when the author addresses the possible solution, this is weak because it is so far in the future there can be no sure outcome.
